Cardboard Containers
All of our cardboard containers are originally flat top containers which have been modified with either a cardboard side in the front, or by special attachments in the lid. These containers can only accept Old Corrugated Cardboard (OCC).
Animal Proof Containers
We have assisted the Town of Golden in creating bylaws to minimize waste, and the amount of animal incidences involving garbage. Our dedication to the cleanliness of the community, and the safety of animals, has prompted us to make sure that all of our new containers given to customers are animal proof. We are excited to be taking the right steps to create a mess-free community.
Frequently Asked Questions
How often can I have my frontload container emptied?
You can have your container emptied as little as once a month, and as much as three times per week.
Which days of the week does VP Waste Solutions empty frontload containers?
We have frontload collection routes on Mondays, Wednesdays, Thursdays, and Fridays. We do not operate on weekends. Rural and remote customers may be collected only on certain days of the week/month depending on the location.
Are there items I am not allowed to put in the frontload container?
The following items are prohibited from entry at all Refuse Disposal Facilities:
- Auto hulks
- Biomedical waste
- Farm animal crcasses and body parts
- Hazardous waste (except those sites where a system of collecting hazardous wastes has been established)
- Liquids and semi-solid wastes except as permitted by this bylaw
- Log yard waste
- PCB’s
- Radioactive waste
- Reactive waste
- Solid waste which is on fire or smoldering
- Tires (suitable for the Product Stewardship Program)
What should I do if I have extra waste this month that won't all fit in the container?
If you are expecting that you may end up overfilling your frontload container, contact us to arrange for an extra pick-up before the container is overfilled, or stockpile until your scheduled collection days. Overfilled containers can result in a mess or damage to our truck when these containers are emptied. Overfilling may result in an extra fee.
Where can I have the frontload container located?
- Accessible by our trucks.
- No overhead obstacles lower than 14ft.
- Our truck must be able to drive nearly straight into the location. Our trucks are quite large and very tight turns may present a challenge.
- There must be firm ground with good traction leading up to, and at, the location of the container. Slick or soft ground can present challenges for our trucks. In winter, the access must be well plowed, including both sides of the frontload container, and any sloped or icy sections may need to be graveled.
- At the site of the container we will need 21ft of overhead space to allow for the truck to dump the container without making contact with any overhead obstacles.
My frontload container is starting to smell. What can I do to minimize/prevent the smell?
- Freeze, and then place any food waste in the container the day of collection.
- Have the frontload container emptied more often.
- Clean and scrub the container after it’s been emptied.
- Arrange for us to pressure wash the container for you. An additional fee will apply for this service.
